WHAT IS A FOR (FRIENDS OF RACHEL) CLUB?
The FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club is a group of students dedicated to making a positive impact, committed to create and sustain a culture of compassion within their school community.
- The FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club is the catalyst and sustaining factor for connection and positive cultural change related to your school through Rachel’s Challenge.
- The role of FOR Club members is to seek and provide ways to reach out and connect with others to create an inclusive atmosphere of kindness, hope, and connection.
- Accordingly, the FOR Club organizes and promotes needed service activities for all students, teachers, staff, and community based on genuine needs and challenges.
FOR (FRIENDS OF RACHEL) CLUB OBJECTIVES
- Become the heart of the school and the model of kindness, compassion, and connection.
- Cultivate a climate of safety and acceptance for EVERYONE on campus!
- Promote outreach and campus culture improvement projects.
- Include as many people as possible in everything you do, especially non-club members.
- Implement causes that promote kindness, compassion and connection.
- Cultivate an atmosphere of kindness and respect.
- Establish connections with everyone through compassion and acceptance, finding relatedness even where differences exist.
FOR (FRIENDS OF RACHEL) CLUB GOALS
- The FOR Club’s main goal is to improve the culture in your school.
- The Rachel’s Challenge assembly produces a temporary climate change on a school campus. Students process the presentation and are inspired to change. A good message can only last so long before the momentum begins to fade. The FOR Club was created to promote permanent cultural change in schools. The goal is to have a campus that is welcoming, safe, and filled with kindness and compassion.
- Rachel’s Challenge believes a cultural change can be accomplished by filling the school with kindness by doing some of the following:
- Getting the entire school involved. The FOR Club participates in culture improvement projects, and every member’s goal is to get the entire school involved.
- Club members should encourage everyone to perform large and small acts of kindness. One way to do that is by modeling a good example for others to follow.
- Create an “Atmosphere of Kindness.” The “I accept Rachel’s Challenge” banner provided by Rachel’s Challenge, along with purchased or student created posters, should be placed around your school. This will help create a more positive environment, and the messages will also serve as reminders to students to be respectful and kind to one another.
- We also believe personal connections are required to create cultural change; as people become emotionally connected, acceptance grows.
