Our Programs | Stop Bullying, Self-harm & School Violence
Isolation is the Problem.
Connection is the Solution.
Now, more than ever, meaningful connection between students, faculty, and staff is critical. In today’s world, building and maintaining that connection needs to be simple, flexible, and sustainable.
When students feel safe and that they belong, they become more connected to each other and the world around them. When they feel connected, they are less likely to hurt themselves or others and more likely to achieve academically, socially and emotionally.
Our programs are proven to create a positive school culture, leading to safer schools and emotionally resilient students.
Based in part on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, the first Columbine victim, we provide live K-12 assemblies, digital programs, student and educator trainings, and support materials. We are a proactive, preventative intervention for school violence and self-harm, with a focus on social-emotional programs that improve connection and mental health.
Keeping it Simple
It might sound like a lot of work, but it isn’t. We’ve worked hard to reduce the level of effort required from faculty. We know how stretched teachers, parents and leadership are. We’ve designed our bullying prevention programs to be student-led, flexible, and agile, and they come with all the support we can give. We help adapt the program to your specific needs – because we respect your resources.
To address the unique challenges administrators and educators face today, we now offer interactive digital programs that accomplish the same effective outcomes we’ve produced in over 20,000 schools nationally. These new digital programs work stand-alone or in tandem with our powerful live presentations for strong, lasting impact.
So, no matter what this school year brings, we have you covered. Rachel’s Challenge offers simple, proven content that can transform lives in as little as a single day.

Social Emotional Learning
Designed For SEL
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a buzzterm for programs that help students build the life skills they need to function and succeed in a rapidly changing and challenging world. Skills like empathy, self-confidence, decision-making, and resilience – all of which stem from different levels of self and social awareness.
All of our K-12 programs are designed to target SEL needs and metrics. We’ve mapped our program elements to the SEL framework, and we have proven success in bringing about positive outcomes. Here’s how it works.
Addressing Core Competencies
Rachel’s Challenge programs promote key elements in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Core Competencies. These learned skills include: better understanding and management of our own emotions, empathy, appropriate interaction with others, and good decision making. These core competencies can also be described as outcomes or behaviors.
Creating Positive Outcomes
Learned skills expressed as behavioral outcomes:
Competencies Expressed as Challenges
Rachel’s Challenge presentations use “5 Challenges” to address and encompass the SEL Competencies.
