September 10, 2024 – INDIANAPOLIS – Rachel’s Challenge is a refreshing approach to trying to make schools safer, and was recently introduced to North Central High School. Rachel’s Challenge is particularly effective in reshaping school culture by encouraging students to connect, break social isolation, and combat the root causes of violence and self-harm. The program featured activities and discussions centered on building empathy and positive relationships. The students learned how acts of kindness could trigger a positive chain reaction in their community, supporting a safer and more inclusive environment in the school. North Central High School Principal, Jagga Rent, said, “I like this approach. It’s a little different flavor than having to evacuate or some of the things we do on a regular basis. It doesn’t have to be intimidating, it can be talking about kindness.
